No. 14 CSUSM Opens CCAA Play With Twinbill Sweep Over Stan State
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The No. 14 Cal State San Marcos softball team (12-1, 2-0 CCAA) pulled off a doubleheader sweep with scores of 6-2 and 5-4 against Stanislaus State (3-9, 0-2 CCAA) at CSUSM Softball Field on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Paige Donnelly crushed a 2-RBI single past the third baseman before Gianna Lombardi went yard on a three-run homer to put CSUSM up 5-0 in the first inning.
- The Warriors got on the board in the top of the second on RBI singles by Lauryn Serda and Katie Thornsberry to make it 5-2.
- The final run of the game came in the bottom of the second when Waymire scored on Donnelly's single that was misplayed in the outfield.

- CSUSM starting pitcher Jayline Sloss (4-0) went four innings, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three batters.
- Stan State's starting pitcher Bree Barner (0-1) took the loss after seven innings in the circle, allowing six runs (five earned) on 11 hits and two walks.
- Lombardi's home run was her first of the season and CSUSM's seventh.
- Donnelly's two-hit performance was her seventh multi-hit game of the season, tying her with Jillian Albayati for the most this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A two-run homer over the right-center wall by Madison Waymire put CSUSM up 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth.
- The Warriors pushed four runs across the plate on three hits, a walk and a hit by pitch in the top of the seventh to take a 4-2 lead.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Delaney Prater hit a one-out double and scored on Aneesa Arredondo's RBI single. After Makenzie Kestler and Makenzie Guiliano drew back-to-back walks to load the bases, Paige Donnelly hit a 2-RBI single down the left line to give CSUSM the win at 5-4.

- CSUSM reliever Dahlia Fink (3-0) picked up the win after 0.2 innings of work, allowing one hit and walk.
- Savannah Coyle got a no-decision after going 6.1 innings, allowing four runs on four hits and one walk while striking out two.
