Dina Gilio-Whitaker's Book Launch "Who Gets To Be Indian?"
Oct 13, 2025 6:00 PM | Organization: CICSC, American Indian Student Alliance, American Indian Studies Join us for an evening with acclaimed author and scholar Dina Gilio-Whitaker as she presents her new book, Who Gets to Be Indian? Ethnic Fraud, Disenrollment, and Other Difficult Conversations About Native American Identity. Hosted by the American Indian Studies Department and the California Indian Culture & Sovereignty Center, this event will spark critical dialogue on identity, sovereignty, tribal governance, and other pressing issues in Native communities. Open to students, faculty, and the public, the event highlights the campus’s role in fostering inclusive, socially relevant conversations on contemporary Indigenous issues.

Please join us for a candlelight vigil and speak out. The event will include a keynote speaker, survivor testimonies, poetry and creating a space for social change. We will conclude the evening with a candlelight vigil in honor of those harmed and/or murdered due to dating and domestic violence.
