ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The third-seeded Cal State San Marcos softball team (38-19) pulled off a 10-inning 7-6 victory over Sonoma State (36-23) to advance to the championship of the CCAA Tournament presented by FloCollege on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a RBI triple to center by Paige Donnelly followed by a Gianna Lombardi RBI single to second in the first inning.
- SSU took a 3-2 lead in the top of the third on Jasmine Moreno's 2-RBI single to left center and an RBI double by Iris Bejarano.
- The Cougars put up four runs in the bottom of the third, scoring on RBI groundouts by Delaney Prater and Mackenzie Kestler as well as a 2-RBI single from Czar Fleischman to take a 6-3 lead.
- In the top of the fourth, the Seawolves cut CSUSM's lead to 6-5 on a Sophie Newcomb sac fly and a wild pitch.
- With two outs in the top of the seventh, Bejarano hit an RBI double down the third-base line to even the score at 7-7.
- Reliever Dahlia Fink gave up only one hit and walked one in the three extra innings, including retiring the side in the top of the 10th.
- In the bottom of the 10th, Delaney Prater hit a one-out double to left center and was pinch run by Hannah Tandy. After Aneesa Arradondo drew a walk, Mackenzie Kestler hit an 0-2 ball in the infield which was bumbled by the SSU shortstop and enabled Tandy to score the winning run.

- CSUSM starting pitcher Jayline Sloss got a no-decision after 3.1 innings, allowing five runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three.
- Fink (10-3) went 6.2 innings, allowing only one run on five hits and one walk while fanning two.
- SSU pitcher Charlie Johnson (21-15) went 3.1 innings, giving up one unearned run on one hit and one walk for the loss.
- In the last four years, CSUSM has gone 2-0 against SSU when playing at Seawolf Softball Field.

The Cougars will face San Francisco State at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3. To repeat as CCAA Tournament champions, CSUSM will need to win the 11 a.m. game as well as the "if-necessary" game scheduled afterward.
