RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team posted an NCAA provisional, a school record and four total top-10 program marks at the RCC Invitational on Friday.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- Kalathan Laiwa-McKay broke his own school record in the shot put with a winning distance and NCAA provisional of 17.74 meters - .39 better than his previous best. Will Prouty also bested his previous mark at a distance of 13.48 meters, moving to eighth in program history.
- Gio Moya posted the eighth-best 400-meter hurdle time in team history at 54.09 seconds.
- The team of Dre Johnson, Jason Wells, Elliot Wright and Troy Thompson Jr. recorded the ninth-best 4x100-meter relay time in program history at 41.99 seconds.
- Nick Melanese won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:52.25 while Braden Oberg took third at 1:53.75.
- Mateo Gomez finished second out of 15 in the long jump with a wind-aided mark of 7.07 meters.
- Melanese finished third out of 41 in the 1500-meter run at 3:54.54.
- Out of 26 entrants, Prouty and Laiwa-McKay finished third and fourth in the hammer throw with marks of 49.97 and 49.94 meters, respectively.
