CSUSM to Face Stanislaus, No. 21 Chico at Home

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (4-6-5, 0-6-2 CCAA) will begin its final homestand of the season by facing Stanislaus State (6-4-5, 2-2-4 CCAA) on Friday at 3 p.m. before hosting No. 21 Chico State (10-2-3, 4-1-3 CCAA) on Sunday at 2 p.m.
 
LAST WEEK

  • CSUSM fell 3-1 at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday as Ryan Meinardus scored his seventh goal of the season.
  • The Cougars got out to an early lead with Meinardus' eighth goal of the year at No. 3 LA, but the Golden Eagles responded with two unanswered goals to win 2-1.

  • Meinardus' eight goals for the season are tied for the sixth most in program history, and he's just two away from tying the single-season record of 10 held by Sullivan Tobin (2014), Brandon Zuniga (2009) and Bradley Seidenglaz (2006). Meinardus ranks fifth in program history with 15 career goals.
  • Meinardus leads the CCAA in shots per game (3.67) and shots on goal per game (1.67) while ranking 11th and 25th nationally in those categories, respectively. His shot accuracy of .455 ranks eighth in the league.
  • Tony Flores is making the third-most saves per game in the CCAA at 3.73 while his 56 total saves also rank third. His save total ranks sixth in a single season at CSUSM and is 12 off the single-season record of 68 held by Justin Tesar (2016).
  • Flores has played the fifth-most minutes of any keeper in Division II this season at 1,350.
  • As a team, the Cougars are making the second-most saves per game in the conference at 3.93.
  • CSUSM's team shot accuracy of .452 is the third best in the CCAA.

FRIDAY AGAINST THE WARRIORS

  • Stanislaus comes into the weekend on a five-game unbeaten streak.
  • This past weekend, the Warriors earned a 1-0 win against Cal State San Bernardino on Friday before earning a point with a 1-1 draw against then-No. 22 Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday.

SUNDAY AGAINST THE WILDCATS

  • After receiving votes last week, Chico entered the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll at No. 21 on Tuesday.
