SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos Athletics placed 50 student-athletes on the 2023 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll.
The CCAA recognizes individuals academically per season – fall, winter and spring – for all CCAA sponsored sports. Student‐athlete must be of sophomore athletic standing or higher, and own a 3.3 cumulative GPA or better while competing in a Conference‐sponsored sport in that season, to earn a place on the CCAA Academic Honor Roll. The CCAA Fall All‐Academic Team consists of eligible student‐athletes who compete in the sports of men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer and volleyball.
CSUSM's 50 honorees were the third most in the CCAA. Cal State Monterey Bay led the way with 65 while Cal Poly Pomona was second at 53.
The CSUSM women's soccer team led the department with 17 honor roll selections while men's soccer was second with 14.
Of the 50 Cougars to earn the honor, 25 were repeat winners. Devyn Kelley and Trevor Boaz earned the honor for a fourth time while Jesus Mentado and Riley Patterson earned the honor for a third time.
In total, there were a record 551 fall sport student-athletes across the CCAA's 12 member institutions honored for their efforts in the classroom.
