LA Outlasts CSUSM in 13 Innings, 8-7
MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – In its first road game of the season, the Cal State San Marcos baseball team (5-5, 1-4 CCAA) fell 8-7 in 13 innings against Cal State LA (4-7, 1-0 CCAA) on Friday at ELAC Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM opened the scoring in the top of the first as Ethan Rivera hit a bases-loaded RBI single to right to score Phoenix Sommay and give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.
- LA took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first as Carson Panarisi hit an RBI double to right center.
- A sacrifice fly by Javy Espinosa and an RBI single through the right side by Ethan Gonzalez gave the Golden Eagles a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth.
- The Cougars knotted it at 4-all in the top of the fifth. After a sacrifice fly by Sommay scored Fisher Pyatt and a double by Garrett Teunissen, Hayden Tregida notched his fourth homer of the season with a two-run shot to left.
- A three-run homer by Cameron Mahaffy put CSUSM up 7-4 in the top of the seventh.
- LA made it a one-run game in the bottom of the seventh as Lee scored on a double play before an RBI single up the middle by Isaiah Marquez made it 7-6.
- A sacrifice fly by Lee scored Kadyn Victorian to tie things at 7-7 in the bottom of the eighth.
- LA walked it off in the bottom of the 13th as Malik Clayton hit an RBI single up the middle to end the game.

- LA reliever Atticus Gonzalez (1-0) earned the win after striking out two while allowing a hit in 2.0 innings.
- CSUSM reliever Angel Barron (0-1) took the loss after allowing the go-ahead run on two hits.
- Cougar starter Spencer Anderson took a no-decision after striking out a career-high eight batters while allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits, a walk and hit-by-pitch in 5.0 innings.
- The Cougars' pitching staff tied the program record for strikeouts in a single game with 17 and recorded their most since 2022 against La Sierra.
