CSUSM Student Union Becomes Heartbeat of Campus

The hub of student life, the new University Student Union (USU) at Cal State San Marcos brings a stronger sense of community and collaborative spirit to campus. The four-story USU features new dining options, an open-air amphitheater, a student activity center with a game lounge, an eco-friendly rooftop garden and patio, and an expansive ballroom. Diabetes Research Helps the Body Heal
Analyzing the genes and proteins involved in tissue repair, CSUSM's Dr. Julie Jameson and her team are exploring new biomedical research to improve wound healing treatments for type 2 diabetics and patients with compromised immune systems.Currently, because type 2 diabetes suppresses the body's immune response, which impedes wound healing, patients are susceptible to infection and other devastating health complications, such as limb amputation.Dr. Jameson's research has already led to the identification of a family of genes that facilitates tissue repair. Working with physicians at Scripps Clinic, she is developing a translational study that could significantly improve treatment options for patients by restoring normal immune function.
