The hub of student life, the new University Student Union (USU) at Cal State San Marcos brings a stronger sense of community and collaborative spirit to campus. The four-story USU features new dining options, an open-air amphitheater, a student activity center with a game lounge, an eco-friendly rooftop garden and patio, and an expansive ballroom. CSU Chancellor Timothy White visited CSUSM for the first time on Oct. 24, 2013 as part of his 23-campus tour and discovered the unique and innovative spirit at San Marcos. During his visit, Chancellor White toured laboratories and centers, met with student leaders, spoke candidly at a campus forum, shared leadership advice with business students, talked with faculty and even tested his Frisbee throwing skills on CSUSM's disc golf course.

As 2016 comes to an end, we are reminded of the busy and meaningful year we've had, and the many memorable celebrations that brought so much joy to our campus. No matter how you celebrate, we wish you happy holidays from California State University San Marcos.

Home to a one-of-a-kind program that provides support to former foster youth pursuing their college degree, ACE Scholars Services serves more former foster youth per capita than any other university in the nation and prides itself on its high rate of student retention, which exceeds the national average by 30 points. A newly established center, gifted by supporters Jan and Esther Stearns, gives ACE Scholars a place to call home on campus.
