CSUSM Falls in Straight Sets at Cal Poly Pomona

POMONA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (1-13, 0-6 CCAA) dropped a three-set match to Cal Poly Pomona (8-4, 6-0 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon at Kellogg Arena, falling 17-25, 13-25, 14-25.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Set 1: CSUSM kept pace early, trailing just 13-10 before CPP pulled away with a 6-2 run. The Cougars were held to a .133 hitting percentage and committed six attack errors in the 25-17 loss.
  • Set 2: The Broncos opened with a 4-0 run and never looked back, capitalizing on CSUSM's four attack errors and three reception errors. The Cougars hit .182 in the frame but couldn't overcome CPP's .515 hitting clip, falling 25-13.
  • Set 3: Cal Poly Pomona jumped out to an 8-0 lead, fueled by strong serving and net play. CSUSM managed to cut the deficit to 17-11 but couldn't close the gap, dropping the final set 25-14.
