SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Tying a program-record of 15 3-pointers, the Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (5-16, 5-10 CCAA) collected a 78-65 victory over Cal State East Bay (8-15, 6-10 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars wasted no time establishing a lead, making five of their 15 3-pointers in the first 10 minutes to take a 25-10 lead after the first quarter.
- CSUSM added six more 3-pointers in the second quarter, shooting 54.5% (6-of-11) from behind the arc.
- The Cougars took their largest lead of the game with 1:17 remaining in the second quarter on a Rose Morse 3-pointer to make it 49-20.
- CSUSM closed out the first half with a 49-23 lead after shooting 42.9% (15-of-35) from the field and 55.0% (11-of-20) from the 3-point line.
- The Pioneers rallied in the second half, outscoring CSUSM 17-12 in the third quarter and 25-17 in the fourth quarter, but the Cougars' lead was too great.
- The Cougars never allowed CSUEB within single digits in the second half.
FAST BREAKS
- The Cougars shot 36.5% (23-of-63) while CSUEB came in at 37.9% (22-of-58).
- CSUSM's 15 3-pointers broke the previous program record of 13 set at Cal State LA on January 2, 2022.
- The Cougars led wire-to-wire in the contest.
- CSUSM won the battle of the boards, 41-37, with a 17-14 advantage on the offensive side.
- The Cougars also led in assists (12-11), steals (11-9) and had fewer turnovers (19-21).
- The Pioneers registered six blocked shots to CSUSM's four.
- Destiny Okonkwo's 17 rebounds were a season high.
- CSUSM evened the season series at 1-1 with the win.
- The Cougars are now 11-9 in the all-time series against the Pioneers and 5-3 when playing in The Sports Center.
