PUEBLO, Colo. – Kalathan Laiwa-McKay of the Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team placed sixth in the shot put at the 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl.
On his third attempt, Laiwa-McKay posted a mark of 17.82 meters – matching his winning throw at the 2025 CCAA Championships.
With his finish, Laiwa-McKay earned USTFCCCA All-America first-team honors. He is the first Cougar to be named an All-American in the NCAA Division II era (2016-present) of the CSUSM men's track & field program and is the first-ever to earn the honor in the shot put.
