ARCATA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (2-3-3, 1-0-0 CCAA) got off to a strong start in CCAA play as it earned a 4-0 win at Cal Poly Humboldt (2-5-1, 0-1-0 CCAA) on Friday afternoon at College Creek Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Efren Nunez Dominguez scored CSUSM's first goal of the day in the 39th minute on a free kick from the corner of the six-yard box. After touches by Oli Barrosa and Justin Carreon, Nunez Dominguez put a shot into the upper middle portion of the goal to make it 1-0.
- In the 48th minute, a strong throw-in from the left corner by Kyle Sherman was headed into the right side of the net by Carreon from just in front of the goal to make it 2-0.
- Just a couple of minutes later in the 50th minute, Brando Oros made a pass up the sideline from deep in Humboldt territory to Daniel Schembri at near midfield. Schembri then made a cross-field pass to the left side to Malachi Wright, who dribbled the ball from midfield into the left side of the box before putting a shot into the upper right corner of the goal to give the Cougars a 3-0 lead.
- After a Lumberjack throw-in was intercepted by Barrosa at midfield, he made a pass up the center of the pitch to Cisco Avila, who went 1-on-1 with the keeper before putting a low rolling shot into the center of the goal to put CSUSM up 4-0 in the 71st minute.

- CSUSM ended the game with the edge in shots (17-8), shots on goal (11-4) and corner kicks (5-1).
- The Cougars are now 6-3-1 in the all-time series against the Lumberjacks and are 2-2-1 when playing in Arcata.
- CSUSM's four goals against Humboldt were the second most in the all-time series as they previously earned a 5-0 win against the Lumberjacks at home in 2016.
- This was CSUSM's first win at Humboldt since 2015.
- The Cougars' four goals were their most in a game since a 5-1 win against San Francisco State in 2023.
- Nunez Dominguez's goal was his team-leading fourth of the season.
