CSUSM Falls in Four to CSULA
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (1-12, 0-5 CCAA) dropped a four-set decision to Cal State LA (9-3, 5-0 CCAA) on Thursday evening at The Sports Center, falling 3-1 (19-25, 25-20, 21-25, 14-25).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SET 1: CSUSM kept pace early, trailing just 14-12 midway through the frame. Cal State LA then went on a 6-2 run, fueled by kills from Ayjah Landers and Mariana Alvarado, to take control. The Cougars responded with a pair of kills from Eleanor Brislen and Addison Kranz, but the Golden Eagles closed the set with a service ace and a kill to win 25-19.
- SET 2: The Cougars came out strong, jumping to a 4-2 lead behind kills from Kassie Cooley and Blayne Seligmiller. CSUSM extended its lead to 13-11 with a 5-2 run that included a block assist from Kranz and Hazel Livingston-Jones. After a brief Cal State LA rally, CSUSM surged again with a 6-2 run and capping the set with a .389 clip to win the set 25-20.
- SET 3: The teams traded points early, with CSUSM holding a 16-14 lead after a Brislen service ace. Cal State LA responded with a 7-2 run to take a 21-18 lead. Despite late kills from Kranz and Cooley, the Golden Eagles held on for a 25-21 win.
- SET 4: Cal State LA dominated from the start, opening with an 8-1 run. CSUSM tried to rally with kills from Brislen and Seligmiller, but the Golden Eagles maintained control with a 7-2 run late in the set. A final kill from CSULA ended the match at 25-14.
