Leonard Unveils 2024 Volleyball Schedule
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The 2024 Cal State San Marcos volleyball season will get underway on Sept. 5 as Head Coach Andrea Leonard announced the Cougars' 25-match schedule on Thursday.
CSUSM's schedule once again begins with two home tournaments that features a shared tournament with Point Loma and the Seventh-Annual Cougar Classic at The Sports Center before beginning its 18-match CCAA schedule.
"The 2024 schedule is another great opportunity for us to make an impact regionally as well as nationally," said Leonard. "We are focused on competing against some of the best and building upon the success and momentum from our spring season. We are ready for the challenge!"
The Cougars will begin the new season by sharing hosting duties for the second consecutive year with Point Loma for the San Diego Invite on Sept. 5-7. CSUSM will face Simon Fraser at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5 and Vanguard at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6 in The Sports Center before heading to the campus of Point Loma the next day to face Chadron State at 11 a.m. and Point Loma at 4 p.m.
CSUSM will host the Seventh-Annual Cougar Classic on Sept. 13-14. The Cougars will open the tournament against Westmont, who will begin their first year of full NCAA Division II membership, at 1 p.m. before facing Azusa Pacific at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13. CSUSM will wrap up the tournament on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 5 p.m. when it hosts Western Oregon in the Cougar Classic finale.
The Cougars will begin CCAA play at home against San Francisco State (Sept. 20 – 5 p.m.) and Cal State San Bernardino (Sept. 21 – 5 p.m.) before beginning a four-match road trip at defending NCAA Division II National Champion Cal State LA (Sept. 27 – 5 p.m.), Cal State Dominguez Hills (Sept. 28 – 3 p.m.), Sonoma State (Oct. 3 – 7 p.m.) and Cal Poly Humboldt (Oct. 5 – 2 p.m.).
CSUSM will return home for a three-match stint, hosting Cal State Monterey Bay (Oct. 11 – 5 p.m.) and Cal State East Bay (Oct. 12 – 1 p.m.) before facing its travel partner Cal Poly Pomona (Oct. 18 – 5 p.m.).
The Cougars will start the second half of their schedule at Cal Poly Pomona (Oct. 19 – 3 p.m.) before heading up to Northern California to take on Chico State (Oct. 25 – 5 p.m.) and Stanislaus State (Oct. 26 – 3 p.m.)
CSUSM will wrap up its home schedule with a four-match homestand against Cal Poly Humboldt (Nov. 1 – 5 p.m.), Sonoma State (Nov. 2 – 1 p.m.) Cal State Dominguez Hills (Nov. 8 – 5 p.m.) and Cal State LA (Nov. 9 – 3 p.m.).
CSUSM will close out the regular season with a trip up to the Bay Area to take on San Francisco State (Nov. 14 – 5 p.m.) before coming back to Southern California to take on Cal State San Bernardino (Nov. 16 – 7 p.m.).
Cal Poly Pomona will host the six-team CCAA Tournament on Nov. 21-23 at Kellogg Arena.
