CSUSM Falls in Five Sets at Chico State

CHICO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team (4-13, 2-8 CCAA) fell in five sets (25-10, 20-25, 25-22, 21-25, 13-15) at Chico State on Friday night at Acker Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • CSUSM dominated in the first set, posting a .478 attack percentage with 13 kills on 23 attempts and two errors while holding the Wildcats to a .000 clip. The Cougars finished with a 25-10 opening-set victory.
  • Seven service errors by CSUSM in the second set gave the advantage to Chico State as the Wildcats evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-20 victory.
  • The third set consisted of 16 tie scores and five lead changes, with CSUSM going back on top at 2-1 in the match with a 25-22 victory.
  • The Wildcats slowly broke away from CSUSM in the fourth set, taking it at 25-21 and forcing a fifth set.
  • Down 10-5 in the fifth set, the Cougars fought back to tie it at 13-all before Chico State clinched the match win with a 15-13 victory.
