HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The second set featured seven ties and six lead changes. The Cougars broke an 18-all tie with a 7-1 run that included two Christensen aces to even the match at 1-1 with a 25-19 win.
  • It was all CSUMB in the third set as the Otters retook the lead in the match at 2-1 with a 25-14 win.
  • With Barr and Hedqvist both tallying six kills, CSUSM came out with a vengeance in the fourth set behind a .350 clip (18k, 4e, 40ta) while siding out 80% of the time (17-21). The Cougars forced a fifth set after a 25-21 win.
  • After trailing 7-3 in the fifth set, the Cougars came charging back to cut CSUMB's lead to 8-7. The Otters scored four unanswered points to clinch the match victory with a 15-11 win.

QUICK HITS

  • CSUSM is 6-4 in the all-time series against CSUMB and is now 4-1 when playing in The Sports Center.
  • Barr's 21 kills matched her CSUSM career best, a feat she has done on two other occasions. Her 17 digs were a season high and one shy of her career best.
