SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's and women's track & field teams will be represented at the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships as Rasha Badrani and Nick Melanese were selected to compete on Tuesday.
Badrani qualified in the 400-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 59.30 at the CCAA Track & Field Championships in early May.
Melanese qualified in the 1500-meter run with a time of 3:44.80 at the Mangrum Invitational on March 22.
This will be the second consecutive NCAA Championships appearance for both Badrani and Melanese.
Badrani competed in last year's 400-meter hurdles and finished 18th with a time of 1:02.02.
This will be Melanse's first time competing in the 1500 as he ran last year's 800 and finished 16th with a time of 1:53.67. To date, Melanese is the only Cougar from the men's track & field team to ever qualify for the NCAA Championships.
This year's championships will be held at Emporia State's Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kansas, on May 23-25.
