Badrani Earns Third CCAA Weekly Honor

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – For the third time this season, Rasha Badrani of Cal State San Marcos has earned the title as CCAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week.

Badrani shattered the CSUSM school record in the 400-meter dash with a career-best time of 54.75 seconds during Saturday's Triton Invitational at UC San Diego. The time, which is an NCAA provisional qualifier, was 0.71 seconds faster than Samantha Showns' 2008 time. Badrani has the fastest time in the 400m among all CCAA student-athletes this season. She is ranked No. 12 nationally in the event.

On Saturday, the sophomore from San Marcos also took part on the Cougars' relay teams. The 4x100 relay team clocked 47.43 to finish fourth and the 4x400 team was also fourth at 3:57.86.

Badrani is also a provisional qualifier in the 400-meter hurdles. She ran a 1:01.13 on March 22 and is currently the second fastest in the CCAA. She has the fourth fastest time in the 100m (11.96), fifth in the 200m (24.50) and fifth in 100m hurdles (14.55). Click here to see the 2024 CCAA Performance List
