SAN FRANCISCO – A lone first-half goal was all the Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team (6-3-4, 3-2-1 CCAA) needed as it earned a 1-0 win at San Francisco State (3-10-0, 0-6-0 CCAA) on Sunday afternoon at Cox Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- On a corner kick from Gabby Marsh in the 17th minute, Natalie Paulson headed the ball toward the left post before Danielle Paulson headed the ball into the goal from just in front of the net to give CSUSM a 1-0 lead.
- With a half in the books, CSUSM led in shots (6-1), shots on goal (5-0) and corner kicks (3-0) while Emma Hord led the period with two shots – both on goal.
- The Cougars kept the Gators at bay in the second half, allowing no shots while just taking two of their own.

- CSUSM ended the game with the edge in shots (8-1), shots on goal (6-0) and corner kicks (5-0) while controlling the ball for 52% of the match.
- Danielle Paulson's goal tied for the team lead this season with four. It was also her team-leading third game-winner of the season.
- Natalie Paulson tied for the team lead in assists by earning her second of the year while Gabby Marsh earned her first.
- This was CSUSM's fourth win in the last five meetings against SF State.
- The Cougars are now 5-3-3 in the all-time series against the Gators.
- CSUSM moved up to third place in the CCAA standings and now has 10 points. It sits a point behind Cal State San Bernardino and four points behind Cal Poly Pomona.
