SAN FRANCISCO – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team saw two of its own earn 2023 Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) All-West Region honors as Natalie Paulson was named to the first team and Hannah Ramos was named to the second team on Tuesday.
The D2 CCA encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of high education. The D2 CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact NCAA Division II athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
Paulson was previously voted as the CCAA Player and Defender of the Year and earned first-team honors after concluding the season with a team-high six goals while ranking second on the team in points with 12. Three of her six goals were game-winning goals, tying for the fourth most in a single season at CSUSM. Paulson was also named the CCAA Tournament's Most Valuable Defensive Player while earning All-Tournament Team honors.
Ramos led CSUSM with 13 points and five assists while scoring four goals in 18 games. The Murrieta native's five assists for the season tied for the fifth most in program history. Ramos was previously named to the All-CCAA first team.
Paulson and Ramos are the first pair of Cougars to earn D2 CCA All-West Region honors in program history.
The D2 CCA All-Region teams are nominated and selected by members of the region's athletics communications staffs. The 13 members of the All-West Region first team will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America consideration. The All-America teams will be released Wednesday, December 6.
