Murr Picks Up Second Consecutive CCAA Weekly Honor
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – For the second consecutive week, Cal State San Marcos' Madison Murr has been selected as the CCAA Women's Golfer of the Week.
Murr placed second at the National Preview in Boulder City, Nev., with a 14-under 202. The senior from Los Alamitos, Calif., played 36 holes on Monday, shooting a 2-under 70 in the first round and a 6-under 66 in the second. Murr backed it up with another 6-under 66 in the final round to finish with a 14-under 202, a CSUSM record for a three-round tournament.
Her efforts helped CSUSM win the National Preview by one stroke over the nation's No. 1 team, Dallas Baptist. Murr was one of four Cougars to finish in the top 17.
This was Murr's ninth career CCAA Women's Golfer of the Week award, the second-most in CCAA history. She trails only CSUSM alum Jaime Jacob, who collected the honor 13 times in her career.
The Cougars' next tournament will be the HPU Sharks Shootout on Oct. 21-22 in Waikoloa Village, Hawaii.
