No. 9 CSUSM Wins National Preview with New School Record

COURSE REPORT:  The No. 9 Cal State San Marcos women's golf team destroyed the program's 54-hole tournament record with a 34-under 830 (279-270-281), recording a one-stroke victory over top-ranked Dallas Baptist at the National Preview in Boulder City, Nevada. Murr also set a new CSUSM 54-hole record with her 14-under 202 (70-66-66) performance that earned her runner-up honors.

FIRST TEE

  • Murr matched her second round total of 6-under 66 in the final round to capture her second consecutive runner-up tournament honors.  
  • Regan Barton and Diana Delgado both recorded 1-under 71s on Tuesday and joined two other golfers for a share of sixth place with an 8-under 208.
  • Makenna Cabardo posted a 3-under 213 (71-68-74) and tied for 17th place.
  • Hannah Anderson tied for 34th place with a 4-over 220 (77-70-73).
  • Playing as in individual, Abby Sickles placed 54th with an 11-over 227.

INSIDE THE SCORECARD

  • UT Tyler's Arnie Taguines matched Murr's final round of 66 to win the individual medalist honors with a 16-under 200 (70-64-66).
  • CSUSM tallied 63 birdies, second-most in the tournament behind Dallas Baptist who finished with 64.
  • The Cougars posted the lowest Par-4 Scoring at 3.93 (-11).
