Hernandez Selected FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Week
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Kiara Hernandez of Cal State San Marcos is this week's FloCollege/CCAA Women's Golfer of the Week after being the top CCAA finisher at The Patriot Invitational.
Hernandez became the fourth different Cougar to snag the weekly award during this 2024-25 season after tying for sixth place at Carmel's Quail Lodge Golf Course. The tournament was won by No. 4 Dallas Baptist, which was also the host.
The junior from Burbank, who transferred to CSUSM from Point Loma over the semester break, shot an 8-over 221 (76-73-72) in the three-round event. Her scorecard featured seven birdies. Only three players in the entire field of 85 shot an even par or better score with only one under-par scorecard.
Hernandez and her teammates led No. 6 CSUSM to a third-place finish on the team leaderboard behind only DBU and NCAA Division I Harvard. The Cougars have finished in the top three in all eight tournaments in 2024-25 with four wins.
This is Hernandez's first career CCAA Golfer of the Week award. Three other Cougars — Madison Murr, Diana Delgado and Regan Barton — all have received the weekly award this season. Click here to see a complete list of past weekly award winners.
Next on the schedule for CSUSM is the WT Desert Invitational, March 31-April 1, in Tucson, Arizona.
