McManus, Nunez Dominguez Named CSUSM Student-Athletes of the Month
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Angela McManus of women's cross country and Efren Nunez Dominguez of men's soccer have been named the Cal State San Marcos Student-Athletes of the Month for November 2025.
The CSUSM Student-Athlete of the Month awards are determined through a vote of all Department of Athletics coaches, administrators and staff. Each in-season program nominates a student-athlete to be considered for the award each month.
McManus earned USTFCCCA All-West Region honors after finishing 13th at the NCAA Division II West Regional with a 6K time of 21:00.6. She then earned an at-large bid to compete in the NCAA Division II National Championships, becoming the women's team's second individual to do so and first since 2018. McManus concluded her collegiate cross country career with a 6K time of 22.19.4 at the NCAA Championships, placing 147th out of 262 runners.
Nunez Dominguez led CSUSM with three goals, three assists, nine points, 25 total shots and eight shots on goal in November. He scored the game-winning goal in overtime against then-No. 9 Cal State Dominguez Hills to send the Cougars to the championship game of the CCAA Tournament for the first time and was named to the CCAA All-Tournament team. Nunez Dominguez went on to earn D2CCA All-West Region and All-CCAA first-team honors while tying CSUSM's single-season records for goals (10) and points (26).
