Cougars Drop CCAA Contest at CSUDH
CARSON, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (7-15, 4-13 CCAA) fell, 59-56, at Cal State Dominguez Hills (9-13, 9-8 CCAA) on Thursday evening at the Torodome.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM responded to an early CSUDH triple with a Kristan Yumul 3-pointer at 7:15, eventually taking a 16-15 lead after the first quarter.
- The teams were tied 16-16 early in the second before a Kat Noa basket put the Cougars ahead 18-17 at 8:31.
- CSUSM carried a 26-23 advantage into halftime after shooting 35.7% (10-of-28), while holding CSUDH to 25.8% (8-of-31).
- In the third quarter, a Portia Polo 3-pointer at 6:57 followed by a Yumul layup at 6:03 pushed CSUSM ahead 33-29.
- CSUDH rallied late in the third to take a 39-37 lead before a Noa jumper with one second left tightened the margin.
- The Cougars erupted with a 13-0 run early in the fourth — highlighted by a Sydney Hani layup at 6:55 and a Kaity Haan finish at 5:05 — to build a 48-39 advantage.
- CSUSM remained in front 55-50 entering the final minute before CSUDH mounted a final push. A'moree Ferrel scored at 0:42, and Camryn Washington hit a transition layup at 0:37 for a 56-55 Toro lead.
- After free throws by Leilani Abraham at 0:23 and a CSUSM answer at 0:22 made it 57-56, Washington sealed the game with two free throws at the horn for the 59-56 final.

- CSUSM shot 38.8% (19-of-49) from the field compared to CSUDH's 34.4% (21-of-61) and outshot the Toros at the free-throw line, 83.3% (15-of-18) to 51.9% (14-of-27).
- The Cougars won the rebound battle, 39-34, behind strong efforts from Noa and Hani.
- Turnovers proved costly as CSUSM's 23 giveaways led to 30 CSUDH points, while the Cougars generated nine points from 14 Toro turnovers.
