CSUSM’s Late Push Comes Up Short at SFSU
SAN FRANCISCO – The Cal State San Marcos women's basketball team (6-11, 3-9 CCAA) fell 69-57 to San Francisco State (5-13, 3-9 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon at San Francisco Federal Credit Union Gym at Don Nasser Family Plaza.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SFSU held an 11-10 lead after the first quarter, closing the frame on a Deonna Mayfield layup with 0:25 remaining.
- The Gators led 31-20 at halftime after CSUSM shot 32.0% (8-of-25) from the field and 12.5% (1-of-8) from 3-point range, while SF State shot 32.4% (11-of-34) and 23.1% (3-of-13).
- After a Samantha Myhr triple pushed SFSU ahead 34-20 at 9:12 of the third, Haan sparked a surge with four straight makes inside between 8:49 and 4:52, and Polo's layup at 4:17 cut it to 36-30.
- Kaitlyn Beall hit two free throws with 34 seconds left in the third to bring CSUSM within 42-39 before SFSU took a 44-39 lead to the fourth.
- In the fourth, Maddie Leiva's jumper at 9:27 and Polo's bucket at 8:31 trimmed it to 44-43, but a Gianna Darte corner three at 8:14 and a Deonna Mayfield triple at 4:28 keyed a late SFSU push.
- Kristan Yumul drilled a trey at 1:17 to pull CSUSM within 59-54, but the Gators closed it out at the line to finish with a 69-57 win.
