No. 17 CSUSM Claims Series Win With Friday Twinbill Sweep Against Sonoma State
SANTA ROSA, Calif. – The No. 17 Cal State San Marcos softball team (20-5, 8-4 CCAA) swept Friday's doubleheader against Sonoma State (15-16, 5-11 CCAA) to clinch the series victory at 3-1. The final scores were 3-2 and 8-4 at Santa Rosa Junior College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a Czar Fleischman sacrifice bunt and SSU error as well as a Delaney Prater RBI single to left.
- The Seawolves put up a run in the bottom of the third on a Houston RBI single to center field.
- The Cougars added another run in the top of the fourth on a bases-loaded walk to make it 3-1.
QUICK HITS
- Cougar pitcher Jayline Sloss (7-3) collected the complete-game victory after allowing only two runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks.
- SSU's starting pitcher Charlie Johnson (10-9) took the loss after going 3.2 innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on eight hits and one walk.
- Prater's three-hit performance was her second of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars went up 2-0 in the third on an SSU error and a passed ball.
- CSUSM added to its lead in the fourth inning on a misplayed ball off Olivia Rivera's single to left field that plated Makenzie Guiliano to make it 3-0.
- SSU cut CSUSM's lead to 3-2 on a Charlie Johnson 2-RBI double to right center in the bottom of the fourth.
- Madison Waymire hit a three-run homer in the top of the fifth to extend CSUSM's lead to 6-2.
- The Seawolves added another run in the bottom of the frame on Taylor Rapp's two-out RBI single up the middle to make it 6-3.
- The Cougars knocked in another run in the top of the sixth on an Aneesa Arredondo RBI middle up the middle.
- After a Houston RBI single in the sixth, the Cougars answered with a run of their own with an Olivia Rivera RBI single in the top of the seventh to make it 8-4.
- Dahlia Fink retired the side with three consecutive flyouts in the bottom of the seventh to clinch the CSUSM win.
