No. 14 CSUSM Splits Saturday's Twinbill at SF State
SAN FRANCISCO – The No. 14 Cal State San Marcos softball team (14-3, 4-2 CCAA) split Saturday's doubleheader against RV San Francisco State (14-4, 3-1 CCAA) at SFSU Softball Field. The Cougars took game one 7-6 before falling 7-2 in the series finale to the Gators.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a Madison Waymire one-out single, Jillian Albayati crushed a home run over the left center wall to put CSUSM up 2-0 in the first.
- SF State cut the Cougars' lead in half on a Shaunessy Cardwell RBI single in the bottom of the frame.
- The Gators took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the second on a 2-RBI single up the middle by Kai DeLeon, who later scored on a Gonzales single and a CSUSM error.
- The Cougars pushed a run across in the top of the fourth on a Makenzie Guiliano RBI single to make it 4-3 SF State.
- CSUSM reclaimed the lead in the fifth on Aneesa Arredondo's two-out 2-RBI double to left center, making it 5-4.
- The Cougars extended their lead in the top of the seventh on a pair of RBI singles up the middle by Gianna Lombardi and Arredondo to make it 7-4.
QUICK HITS
- Entering the game in relief, Savannah Coyle (5-1) picked up the win after going 5.0 innings, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk.
- Elise Roy (5-1) went 6.0 innings, allowing seven runs on 11 hits and three walks for her first loss of the season.
- Jillian Albayati recorded her third home run of the season, moving her to the top spot on the team.

- The Gators took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Kai Deleon's RBI double to left.
- SF State went up 7-0 in the bottom of the fifth on a CSUSM error, a Kira Nelson 2-RBI single and a Marissa Jordan three-run homer.
- CSUSM attempted a two-out comeback in the top of the sixth when Makenzie Guiliano and Madison Waymire hit back-to-back bases-loaded RBI singles before the Gators forced a flyout to end the inning at 7-2 SF State.

- CSUSM starter Jayline Sloss (5-2) took the loss after giving up seven runs (one earned) on seven hits and three walks over 4.2 innings.
- SF State's Mari Takeda Bajan (6-2) earned the win after 5.2 innings of work, giving up two runs on three hits and nine walks.
