CSUSM Drops Pair on Senior Day to CSUEB
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos (28-19, 16-12 CCAA) softball team dropped both ends of its doubleheader to Cal State East Bay (23-18, 15-15 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon by scores of 2-0 and 6-2 at CSUSM Softball Field.
Prior to game one, CSUSM celebrated its lone senior Klarissa Munoz.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Pioneers went up 2-0 in the first inning on Cynthia Carrillo's two-run homer to left.
- CSUSM attempted a rally in the bottom of the seventh after Albayati hit a leadoff double to right, but East Bay starter Ashlee Toy retired the next three Cougars.
QUICK HITS
- Cougar starter Jayline Sloss (13-8) took the loss despite matching her career best of eight strikeouts, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk.
- CSUEB's Ashlee Toy (13-7) collected the win after tossing a complete-game shutout, allowing three hits while striking out one batter.
- Donnelly saw her streak of reaching base end at 23 games and her hit streak concluded at 18 games, both team bests this season.
- The Cougars recorded another double play to raise their total to 33, a NCAA Division II best.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A bit of déjà vu came in the first inning as East Bay went up 2-0 on a home run, this time from Adriana Martinez. The Pioneers tacked on two more runs before the end of the inning on RBI singles by Alexa Zumstein and Ysabella Cortez.
- The Pioneers went up 6-0 in the third inning on a Serena Cadena 2-RBI single up the middle.
- The Cougars broke up the shutout in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBI single to left center by Donnelly and a RBI double to left by Arredondo that made it 6-2.
QUICK HITS
- CSUSM starter Dillyn Collins (1-2) recorded the loss after just a third of an inning, allowing four runs on four hits.
- CSUEB starter Marissa Quintero (14-8) notched the win after allowing two runs on eight hits and striking out five batters in seven innings in the circle.
- Entering the final weekend of the regular season, CSUSM sits in fourth place in the CCAA standings, three games back from first-place Sonoma State.
- Donnelly recorded her team-leading 13th multi-hit game while Coyle registered her 11th.
