No. 14 CSUSM Drops Two at RV SF State
SAN FRANCISCO – The No. 14 Cal State San Marcos softball team (14-3, 4-2 CCAA) fell twice to RV San Francisco State (14-4, 3-1 CCAA) on Friday afternoon at SFSU Softball Field by scores of 6-1 and 4-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Gators went up 2-0 in the first inning on an RBI single by Shaunessy Cardwell and double steal attempt that plated Daniella Guerrera.
- SF State added another run in the third inning on a two-out RBI single by Lexi Holihan.
- The Gators doubled their lead in the fourth inning on a CSUSM error and a 2-RBI single by Cardwell that made it 6-0.
- CSUSM prevented a shutout in the top of the sixth when Olivia Rivera grounded out with the bases loaded abd plated Madison Waymire to make it 6-1.
QUICK HITS
- CSUSM starting pitcher Jayline Sloss (5-1) took the loss after 3.2 innings, allowing six runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks.
- CSUSM reliever Dahlia Fink threw 2.1 scoreless innings.
- Tossing a complete game, SF State starter Elise Roy (5-0) allowed one run on three hits and five walks.
- Paige Donnelly kept her streak of reaching base safely alive with her single in the sixth, extending it to 10 games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SF State took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Cardwell RBI single through the left side.
- CSUSM evened the game at 1-1 on an Olivia Rivera solo home run over the left field wall in the top of the second.
- The Cougars took a 3-1 lead on a bases-loaded wild pitch that Jillian Albayati scored on followed by a sacrifice fly by Olivia Rivera in the top of the fourth.
- SF State evened the game in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Marissa Jordan and a CSUSM error.
- The Gators scored the winning run on a two-out RBI single by Kira Nilson to left center to make it 4-3 in the seventh inning.

- CSUSM reliever Dahlia Fink (4-1) took the loss after 1.1 innings of work, giving up one run on two hits and one walk.
- CSUSM starter Savannah Coyle got a no-decision after going 5.1 innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and one walk.
- Mari Takeda Bajan (5-2) collected the win after pitching a complete game, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out four.
- Olivia Rivera's home run was the first of her collegiate career and the team's ninth this season.
