No. 24 CSUSM Earns Twinbill Split with 14-6 Nightcap Win
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The No. 24 Cal State San Marcos (24-17, 12-10 CCAA) softball team earned a doubleheader split at Cal State San Bernardino (22-14, 14-9 CCAA), falling 6-3 in the opener before registering a 14-6 six-inning victory in the nightcap.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Coyotes took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on a Mia Escujuri 2-RBI single to center.
- CSUSM evened the game at 2-all on a Donnelly 2-RBI double to left field in the top of the fifth.
- The Coyotes quickly answered in the bottom of the fifth on a Tereise Tosi RBI double to right to retake the lead at 3-2.
- CSUSB added to its lead in the sixth, taking advantage of a CSUSM error that plated three additional runs.
- The Cougars attempted a rally in the top of the seventh with Waymire leading off with a double to right and scoring on a ground out to make it 6-3.

- CSUSM starter Jayline Sloss (11-7) took the loss after going five innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks.
- With both tallying doubles in the contest, Donnelly and Waymire are first and third in the CCAA with 12 and 10, respectively.
- Donnelly recorded her team-leading 10th multi-RBI game of the season.
- After reaching base with her double, Donnelly extended her streak to 18 games while raising her hit streak to 13 games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Coyotes once again took an early 1-0 lead as Natalie Carlos hit an RBI single through the left side in the first inning.
- A Marissa Morales RBI single to left plated Arredondo to even the game at 1-all in the top of the second.
- Coyles' 2-RBI double to left center in the third inning put CSUSM on top at 3-1.
- The Coyotes evened the game at 3-all on a two-run homer by Bri Grois in the bottom of the third.
- CSUSB went up 5-3 in the fourth on an RBI single by Tereise Tosi and a CSUSM error.
- The Cougars pushed six runs across in the fifth highlighted by a Fink solo home run and a Kestler three-run homer that made it 9-5.
- A Greene solo home run in the bottom of the fifth made it 9-6.
- To prevent a Coyote comeback, the Cougars posted five more runs in the sixth that began with an Arredondo solo home run and was capped by a Fink 2-RBI double to make it 14-6.
- After giving up a leadoff single, Fink got the next Coyote to hit into a double play before clinching the win on a ground out to second in the sixth.

- CSUSM reliever Dahlia Fink (4-2) picked up the win after going 2.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits and no walks while striking out one batter.
- CSUSB starter Samantha Vargas (10-6) registered the loss after giving up 11 runs (seven earned) on 12 hits and six walks.
- This was Fink's and Kestler's first home runs of the season while Arredondo registered her second.
- After reaching base in both games of Friday's doubleheader, Donnelly extended her streak to 19 games while raising her hitting streak to 14.
- With the win, the Cougars moved into fourth place in the CCAA standings, 2.5 games behind Sonoma State and Cal State Dominguez Hills who are tied for second place.
- Five Cougars registered a multi-hit game while Waymire registered her team-best 11th.
- Fink became the fifth Cougar this year to record three RBIs in a single game.
