Ewing Announces CSUSM's 2023 Softball Schedule

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – After a historic season in 2022, the Cal State San Marcos softball team is anxious to get back on the field to defend its CCAA Regular-Season Championship as Head Coach Stef Ewing announced the Cougars' 2023 schedule on Friday.

The 2023 schedule consists of 49 games and is highlighted by five home CCAA weekends and two non-conference doubleheaders at the CSUSM Softball Field.

"We can't wait to get back on the field and take care of business," said Ewing. "We will take one game at a time."

For the third consecutive time, CSUSM will begin its season at the Concordia Kickoff Classic in Irvine. The Cougars will face Colorado Christian, Dominican, Montana State Billings, Western Oregon and Hawaii Pacific on Feb. 3-5.

The Cougars will waste no time by jumping right into conference play in their home opener on Feb. 17-18 when they welcome Cal Poly Humboldt to CSUSM Softball Field. CSUSM will close out the month of February with a trip up to the Bay Area to take on the Pioneers of Cal State East Bay on Feb. 24-25.

CSUSM will begin the month of March at home, hosting Chico State (March 3-4) before hitting the road with a trip up to Sonoma State (March 10-11). The Cougars will take their first of three breaks from conference play for a weekday doubleheader against Pace (N.Y) on March 15.

The Cougars will host the 2022 NCAA National Runner-Up Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 17-18 before taking their second conference break by traveling to Azusa Pacific on March 22 for a doubleheader. Following a return to the Bay Area to take on San Francisco State on March 24-25, CSUSM will wrap up its non-conference schedule with a doubleheader at home against Concordia University Irvine on March 31 and a road doubleheader at Biola on April 1.

CSUSM will play at home on April 7-8 against Cal State San Bernardino before closing its regular-season road schedule at Cal State Monterey Bay on April 21-22. For the first time since moving to NCAA Division II in 2015-16, the Cougars will close out the regular season on their home field by hosting Stanislaus State on April 28-29.

The top six teams in the CCAA standings at the end of the regular season will head to the campus of Cal State Dominguez Hills for the 2022 CCAA Tournament on May 4-7.
