SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos' Nick Melanese has been named the CCAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 1-7.
The junior from Scripps Ranch posted an NCAA provisional time of 1:49.48 in the 800-meter run at the Triton Invite. It was his fastest time in the event this season by two seconds.
His time ranks fourth nationally and is the fastest in the West Region. It was his second NCAA provisional of the season after earning one in the 1500-meter run two weeks ago (3:44.80). Click here to see the 2024 CCAA Performance List

The Cougars will compete in three separate meets this weekend. Some will attend the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific (Apr. 11-13). Others will attend the Beach Invite, hosted by Long Beach State, and the Leopard Distance Carnival, hosted by La Verne.
