CSUSM Leads Conference with 120 CCAA All-Academic Honorees
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – A conference-high 120 Cal State San Marcos student-athletes were named to the 2022-23 CCAA All-Academic Team on Thursday.
The All-Academic Award recognizes undergraduate student-athletes who were on a roster in good standing in a Conference-sponsored sport and earned a varsity letter during the academic year while also achieving a 3.40 grade-point average or higher during the 2022-23 school year.
A total of 929 student-athletes from across the 12 CCAA member-institutions collected CCAA All-Academic honors in 2022-23. The CCAA began handing out All-Academic honors in 2005-06, and the 929 selections are the second most for any academic year, not including the COVID seasons. It just missed the record number of 935 selections in 2021-22.
"I would like to congratulate all of our 2022-23 CCAA All-Academic honorees," said CCAA Commissioner Allen Hardison. "The size of this list is so impressive and is a testament to the dedication our student-athletes display on and off the playing surface throughout the year. The hard work these student-athletes put towards academics, training, competition, and being leaders in our communities is something our conference is very proud of. I would also like to thank our coaches, academic advisors, and administration teams across all our campuses that help drive our student-athletes towards success on a daily basis."
Seven of the 12 universities increased their all-academic selections from 2021-22 with Cal State San Marcos seeing the largest total increase with an additional 20 student-athletes earning the honor this year.
Since joining the league in the 2015-16 academic year, CSUSM has tallied the most CCAA All-Academic honorees with a combined total of 820.
