Cougars See NCAA Provisional, Three Top-10 Program Marks at Triton Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team saw an NCAA provisional and three top-10 program marks at UC San Diego's Triton Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Nick Melanese posted an NCAA provisional time of 1:49.48 in the 800-meter run while Renton McGregor ran the 10th-fastest time in program history at 1:52.75.
- The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Dre Johnson, Charles Rogers, Julian Watson and Aeden Fernandez tallied the sixth-fastest time in program history at 41.92 seconds.
- Will Prouty had the ninth-best discus throw in program history at 42.52 meters.
- Kalathan Laiwa-McKay posted a mark of 16.74 meters and finished sixth in the elite shot put event.
- Juan Leyva had a mark of 50.83 meters in the hammer throw.
- Jason Morse was the top Cougar in the 3000-meter steeplechase at 10:08.11.
- Mathew Musa was CSUSM's top finisher in the 1500-meter run at 3:58.39.
- Amaree Berry was the fastest Cougar in the 400-meter run at 49.82 seconds.
- Aeden Fernandez posted a time of 10.98 seconds in the 100-meter dash.
- Dre Johnson recorded a time of 21.81 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
- Sankalp Shastri was fourth out of 31 in the 5000-meter run at 14:58.11.
- The team of Mateo Gomez, Giovanni Moya, Nate Valencia and Adam Moe capped off the meet with a time of 3:27.13 in the 4x400-meter relay.

CSUSM will compete in three meets next weekend as it heads to Azusa Pacific for the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 11-13), Long Beach State for the Beach Invitational (April 12-13) and La Verne for the Leopard Distance Carnival (April 12).
