FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's track & field team saw a new school record in addition to five other top-10 program marks at Cal State Fullerton's Ben Brown Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Titan Track Complex and the Oxy Distance Carnival on Saturday in Los Angeles.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- Juan Leyva broke his one-week-old school record in the hammer throw with a distance of 52.72 meters – .21 better than his previous mark.
- Dre Johnson posted the second-fastest 100-meter time in program history at 10.70 seconds. Aeden Fernandez tallied the eighth-fastest time in team history at 10.91 while Julian Watson had the school's 10th-fastest time at 10.95.
- Johnson also recorded the fifth-fastest 200-time in school history at 21.97 seconds.
- In the 4x100-meter relay, Johnson, Mateo Gomez, Charles Rogers and Watson posted the second-fastest time in team history at 41.81 seconds.
- Kalathan Laiwa-McKay finished third out of 34 entrants in the shot put at 16.74 meters.
- Trevor Boaz was CSUSM's fastest runner in the 5000-meter run at 14:44.56.
- Shaun Katje posted a wind-aided distance of 13.17 meters in the triple jump.
- Giovanni Moya was the fastest Cougar in the 400-meter run at 51.27 seconds.
- As the lone CSUSM entrant in the 400-meter hurdles, Nate Valencia recorded of time of 59.79 seconds.
- CSUSM wrapped up the Ben Brown Invitational in the 4x400-meter relays as Rogers, Amaree Berry, Giovanni Moya and Aeden Fernandez recorded a time of 3:23.01.
- In the 5000-meter run at the Oxy Distance Carnival, Ziggy Nacco had CSUSM's fastest time at 15:25.03.
