CSUSM Suffers 1-0 Heartbreaker to Stanislaus

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – A late 88th-minute goal put Stanislaus State (7-4-5, 3-2-4 CCAA) past the Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team (4-7-5, 0-7-2 CCAA) by a score of 1-0 on Friday at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Scoreless after 45 minutes, the Warriors had the edge in shots (8-5), shots on goal (5-3) and corner kicks (3-2). A different Cougar took all five CSUSM shots.
  • Still scoreless in the final minutes of the second half, Stanislaus' Jacob Ramirez kicked a pass in the middle of the box to Adrian Yepez, who put a low shot through traffic and into the right side of the goal to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead in the 88th minute.
  • CSUSM led the second half in shots (10-8) and corner kicks (10-8).
