SAN DIEGO – Aaron Alvarez of the Cal State San Marcos men's soccer team was selected in the second round of the Major Arena Soccer League College Draft by the San Diego Sockers on Thursday afternoon.
Alvarez was one of 39 players selected in the second annual draft comprised of the 13 teams in the MASL.
The San Diego native is coming off a 2023 season in which he tallied nine points, four goals and an assist in 18 games while helping CSUSM to the semifinals of the CCAA Tournament.
All drafted player rights will be protected for the player to go to contract with the team until December 1, 2024.
The Sockers are 16-time professional indoor soccer champions, spanning across five different leagues since their debut in 1978 and most recently won their second consecutive MASL Championship in 2022.
