ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos Department of Athletics saw a conference-leading 126 student-athletes earn CCAA All-Academic honors from the league office on Wednesday.
 
All honorees posted a 3.40 grade point average or higher and earned a varsity letter in a conference-sponsored sport during the designated academic year.
 
In total, a record-breaking 1,150 student-athletes from 12 CCAA member institutions and 13 sports were recognized, shattering the previous record of 1,030 set last year.
 
"Congratulations to all of the CCAA All-Academic honorees for once again setting a new conference record," said CCAA Commissioner Allen Hardison. "The dedication our student-athletes have towards academics and athletics is on full display with the impressive list of names. I am so impressed with the hard work these student-athletes put into academics, training, competition, and being leaders in our communities. It is something our conference is very proud of. Thank you also to our coaches, academic advisors, and administrators who help drive our student-athletes towards success daily."
 
CSUSM was followed by Cal State East Bay (118), San Francisco State (116), Stanislaus State (112) and Cal Poly Pomona (101).
 
Since joining the CCAA in the 2015-16 academic year, CSUSM has produced the most CCAA All-Academic honorees with 1,059.
 
The CCAA and NCAA Division II support the educational mission of college athletics by fostering a balanced and inclusive approach in which student-athletes learn and develop through their desired academic pursuits, civic engagement with their communities, and athletics competition, creating a life in the balance.
 
The award is designed to demonstrate the academic achievements of each of the CCAA's 12 conference constituents. It illustrates just one of the many ways student-athletes in the conference take advantage of the unique opportunity Division II provides to compete in the classroom, on the field, in their career, for their causes, and on their terms.
