SAN DIEGO – In its second and final exhibition of the 2024-25 season, the Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team fell 80-39 to San Diego State on Wednesday night at Viejas Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kyelin King had CSUSM's first basket of the night on a layup at the 14:12 mark to stop SDSU's 11-0 run to start the game before making a jumper to cut the Aztec lead to 11-4 with 13:14 to go.
- Following a media timeout with 11 minutes to go in the half and the Aztecs up 17-6, Mikey Aikhionbare drained a 3-pointer at the top of the arc to make it a 17-9 game.
- At the end of the first half, the Cougars trailed 46-19, shooting 30.4% (7-of-23) from the floor while the Aztecs clocked in at 48.6% (18-of-37). King led CSUSM with 11 points.
- The Aztecs kept up their pace in the second half, outscoring the Cougars 34-20 and shooting 50% (14-of-28) to CSUSM's 21.7% (5-of-23).
- Keavie Love led all second-half scorers with nine points while going 5-of-5 from the charity stripe and 2-of-3 from the field.
FAST BREAKS
- This was the second consecutive season CSUSM and San Diego State have met in an exhibition and the seventh time overall.
- CSUSM ended the night shooting 26.1% (12-of-46) while SDSU came in at 49.2% (32-of-65).
- The Aztecs had the advantage in rebounds (40-29), assists (17-5) and steals (14-5) while committing fewer turnovers (22-14).
