Cougars Cruise Past Broncos, 79-60
POMONA, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (8-5, 5-3 CCAA) earned a convincing 79-60 victory over Cal Poly Pomona (8-6, 3-5 CCAA) on Saturday afternoon at Kellogg Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CSUSM jumped out to an early lead behind hot shooting from beyond the arc, hitting nine first-half threes and building its largest lead of the game at 36-14 following a Chris Carrillo trey with 7:29 to play.
- The Cougars took a 42-26 lead into the halftime break after shooting 48.5% (16-of-33) from the field and 50.0% (9-of-18) from three, while CPP shot 40.9% (9-of-22) and just 12.5% (1-of-8) from deep.
- CPP cut the deficit to single digits early in the second half following an 8-0 run to make it 42-34 with 16:17 to play.
- A 7-2 run put the Cougars back up by 13 at 49-36 with 14:48 remaining after a pair of Micah Boone free throws.
- Another 8-0 run by the Broncos cut the deficit to 49-44 with 12:32 to go after a Demarreya Lewis-Cooper fastbreak layup.
- CPP never got any closer as CSUSM built its lead back up to 21 at 76-55 following a Max Tengan three with 1:10 to go.
