Teunissen Named NCBWA Division II West Region Player of the Week
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – After being named the CCAA Player of the Week on Monday, Cal State San Marcos baseball's Garrett Teunissen earned the honor as the Division II West Region Player of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Tuesday afternoon.
Teunissen hit .600 as he went 9-for-15 with a 1.678 OPS in a series win at home against Cal State San Bernardino. The Corona native had four extra-base hits with two doubles, a triple and a homer while driving in seven runs and scoring eight times during the series.
Teunissen is the first player in CSUSM program history to earn NCBWA West Region Player of the Week honors. The Cougars have previously earned two West Region Pitcher of the Week awards in Taylor Ahearn (April 12, 2017) and Garrett Apker (Feb. 22, 2022).
Teunissen and the rest of the Cougars will travel to Chico State for a four-game series beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
