Garcia Announces 2024 CSUSM Baseball Schedule
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Beginning his second season at the helm of the Cal State San Marcos baseball team, Head Coach Jose Garcia announced the Cougars' 2024 schedule on Wednesday.
CSUSM's schedule consists of 50 games with 28 home games, 22 road games and 10 contests against non-CCAA opponents.
"We are very excited to release our schedule and for this upcoming season," Garcia said. "We are excited to host 12 home games in the month of February," Garcia added. "We're looking forward to having a strong start to our season and hopefully carrying that momentum into CCAA play for the rest of the season."
The Cougars' season begins on Feb. 1-2 with a pair of doubleheaders against Saint Martin's at CSUSM Baseball Field. The following weekend, CSUSM will host a single game against Concordia University Irvine on Feb. 9 before playing a doubleheader against the Golden Eagles in Irvine on Feb. 10. The Cougars will then wrap up non-conference play by hosting a three-game series against Colorado School of Mines on Feb. 16-17.
CSUSM will begin CCAA play by hosting Cal State LA on Feb. 23-25 before traveling to Cal State Dominguez Hills on March 1-3. After the Cougars return to San Marcos to face Cal State San Bernardino on March 8-10, they'll head to Chico State on March 15-16.
At the midway point of the conference schedule, the Cougars will welcome defending CCAA Regular-Season and Tournament Champion Cal State Monterey Bay to San Marcos on March 22-24. Following a series at Cal State East Bay on March 28-30, CSUSM will host Sonoma State on April 5-7.
After their next-to-last road series of the season at Cal Poly Pomona on April 12-14, CSUSM will play its final home series against San Francisco State on April 19-21. The Cougars will wrap up their regular-season schedule on the road at Stanislaus State on April 26-28.
Should CSUSM be one of the top six teams in the conference at the end of the regular season, it'll head to Pomona for the CCAA Tournament on May 8-11.
"I believe that we brought in a dynamic group of players this fall. We will have over 20 new faces on our roster this upcoming season, and I believe each one of them brings something positive and unique to our program," Garcia added. "We had a very competitive fall and it was great to see this team come together. Our guys are eager to get the season started, and we believe we have a team that is going to change the trajectory of the CSUSM baseball program."
Tickets will be sold for the upcoming season in person at the gate or by visiting CSUSMCougars.com/tickets. General admission tickets will cost $10 while youth (ages 5-12) and senior/military tickets will cost $6. Parents that have children wearing a youth jersey can also also purchase tickets for $6.
