CSUSM Begins Final Home Series with 13-9 Win Against SF State
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team (22-15, 21-11 CCAA) began its final home series of the season with a 13-9 win over San Francisco State (23-16, 17-12 CCAA) on Friday afternoon at CSUSM Baseball Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Gators began the scoring in the top of the first with a solo shot to right by Jacob French.
- Teunissen gave the Cougars a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first with a two-run blast to left.
- SF State retook the lead at 4-2 in the top of the second with a solo homer by AJ Schrader, a CSUSM throwing error that scored Nick Allred and an RBI single by French.
- CSUSM took a 7-4 lead in the bottom of the second with five runs coming from an RBI fielder's choice by Teunissen, a sacrifice fly by Luke Reece and three RBI singles from Ethan Rivera, Cameron Mahaffy and Castaneda.
- The Gators came within a run of the lead at 7-6 in the top of the fourth with an RBI double by French and an RBI single by Derek LaFerriere.
- An RBI single by Castaneda gave the Cougars an 8-6 lead in the bottom of the fourth.
- SF State knotted the game at 8-all with a wild pitch that scored Anthony Alvarez in the top of the sixth and a solo homer by River Diaz de Leon in the top of the seventh.
- A bases-loaded double by Teunissen in the bottom of the seventh put the Cougars on top once again at 10-8.
- Alvarez hit a solo homer for the Gators in the top of the eighth to cut the deficit to 10-9.
- The Cougars put the game away in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI double by Castaneda and a two-run shot by Chesterton to increase their lead to 13-9.

- Cougar reliever Nate Jaramillo (1-1) earned the win after striking out two and allowing two runs on three hits in 2.0 innings of work.
- Gator reliever Mickey Radanovich (2-1) took the loss after allowing five runs on four hits, two walks and two hit-by-pitches in 2.0 innings.
- CSUSM increased its program record for CCAA wins to 21.
- The Cougars can now finish with a winning percentage of no less than .538.
- CSUSM is guaranteed to finish the regular season with an overall winning percentage of at least .500, something it hasn't done as a program since its final year of NAIA play in 2015.
- Earning three walks, Phoenix Sommay upped his reached-base streak to 32 games.
- Teunissen became the fourth Cougar to post at least five RBIs in a game this season while posting his team-leading 19th multi-RBI game.
