Garcia Announces 2025 Schedule for CSUSM Baseball
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Coming off his program's best season in the NCAA Division II era and first trip to the NCAA West Regional, Cal State San Marcos head coach Jose Garcia announced his team's 2025 schedule on Friday.
"The Cougars are excited to get back out there after a historic 2024 season," Garcia said. "Our program reached new heights last season, and we look forward to building off that momentum in 2025. We have a lot of returners who got a taste of the postseason for the first time and are eager to get back out there and go on another deep run this year. Although we had a great season last year, there is no doubt that our returners aren't satisfied with just getting back to the postseason this spring. We have a great mix of returners, incoming transfers and talented freshmen this year, and we're excited to see our guys compete."
The Cougars' 49-game schedule includes 29 home games and 20 road games. CSUSM will also play nine non-conference games, including a home series against 2024 NCAA Division II National Champion University of Tampa.
"It's clear our baseball program has started to gain some national attention," Garcia said. "We are excited to play such a historically great Division II program in Tampa, and it's a great opportunity for us to compete against the highest competition in Division II. We strive to make our program a national contender, and I believe this series will be a good measuring stick for us."
CSUSM will begin its schedule by hosting Saint Martin's in a four-game series on Jan. 31-Feb. 2 before hosting a single game against Colorado School of Mines on Feb. 6. After a 15-day break, the Cougars will host Cal State Dominguez Hills to begin CCAA play on Feb. 21-23 before heading to Cal State LA for its first road series of the season on Feb. 28-March 2.
The Cougars will wrap up non-conference play with a four-game home series against Tampa on March 7, 8 and 10 before returning to CCAA play by hosting Stanislaus State on March 14-16. CSUSM's second road series of the year will see it head to San Francisco State on March 21-23 before coming home to face Cal Poly Pomona on March 28-30.
CSUSM will begin April on the road at Sonoma State on April 4-6 before returning to San Marcos to face Cal State East Bay on April 11-13. The Cougars will head to Cal State Monterey Bay on April 17-19 before hosting Chico State in its final home series on April 25-27. CSUSM will wrap up the regular season at Cal State San Bernardino on May 1-3.
Should CSUSM be one of the top six teams in the CCAA standings at the end of the regular season, the Cougars would head to Cal State LA for the CCAA Tournament on May 7-10.
"Couple our non-conference games with our CCAA conference schedule, I think if we go out and play the way we are capable of this year, we have a real good chance to get back to another regional," Garcia said.
Tickets will be sold for the regular season in person at the gate or by visiting CSUSMCougars.com/tickets. General admission tickets will cost $10 while youth (ages 5-12) and senior/military tickets will cost $6. Parents that have children wearing a youth jersey can also purchase tickets for $6. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $4 each.
