Cougars Begin Final Homestand with 82-72 Win Over Seawolves
SAN MARCOS, Calif. – Making up a previously postponed game, the Cal State San Marcos men's basketball team (5-19, 5-13 CCAA) earned an 82-72 win against Sonoma State (10-14, 6-12 CCAA) on Monday night at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Overcoming an early deficit, the Cougars took their first double-digit lead at 32-22 on a Dexter Stratton jumper with 4:15 remaining in the first half.
- CSUSM rattled off eight consecutive points to make it 40-22.
- The Cougars closed out the first half with a 42-24 lead after shooting 51.6% (16-of-31) from the field and 54.5% (6-of-11) from beyond the arc while the Seawolves were 33.3% (9-of-27) from the field and 42.9% (3-of-7) from the 3-point line.
- The Cougars led for 13:22 in the first half while SSU was on top for 4:19.
- SSU made it a single-digit lead for CSUSM on a James Nobles 3-pointer at 16:04 to make it 46-37.
- The Seawolves took their first lead since the 12-minute mark in the first half on a Nobles layup with 11:02 remaining to make it 53-52, completing a 29-10 run to begin the second half.
- After a Micah Boone free throw, the Cougars went on an 8-0 run to take a 60-53 lead that was capped by a turnaround jumper by Boone with 7:22 to play.
- The Seawolves never got closer than four points the rest of the way, cutting the deficit to 68-64 on three made free throws by Nick Medeiros with 1:36 left.
- Stratton returned the Cougars' lead to double figures at 82-72 with a pair of free throws and 10 ticks remaining.
- Outscoring CSUSM 48-40 in the second half, the Seawolves shot 51.6% (16-of-31) from the field while holding the Cougars to 34.5% (10-29).
- SSU sent CSUSM to the free throw line 23 times in the second half, seeing the Cougars make 20 of those attempts (87%).
