CSUSM Women's Soccer Named NCAA Division II West Region Staff of the Year
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer coaching staff consisting of head coach Bobby Renneisen, assistant coach Jillian Shields and volunteer assistant coach Ryan Morissey was named the 2023 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer West Region Staff of the Year on Friday by the United Soccer Coaches.
This season, the Cougars won their first CCAA Tournament Championship and made their first NCAA Tournament appearance as the fifth seed in the NCAA West Regional. CSUSM ended the season with an overall record of 11-3-6 and went unbeaten in conference play at 6-0-5.
CSUSM had a program-high seven All-CCAA honorees in addition to earning a CCAA Player and Defender of the Year.
This is the first award of its kind for the CSUSM women's soccer coaching staff.
Each of the 52 (26 men's and 26 women's) NCAA Division I, II and III coaching staffs receiving Region Staff of the Year honors through a vote of their peers, will be recognized at the College Coaches Awards Ceremony at the United Soccer Coaches Convention on Thursday, January 11, 2024, in Anaheim, California.
In addition, the Region Staff of the Year recipients will be placed on the ballot for National Staff of the Year consideration within their respective NCAA division. National Staff of the Year voting opens December 6, 2023.
