TURLOCK, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men's track & field saw gold for the first time on the second day of the CCAA Championships on Friday at Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium on the campus of Stanislaus State.
TOP PERFORMANCES
- For the third consecutive year, Kalathan Laiwa-McKay won the CCAA Championship in the shot put by surpassing his own school record with an NCAA provisional mark of 17.82 meters on his final attempt. He won the event by 1.10 meters.
- Dorian Fillmore took sixth in the triple jump with a wind-aided mark of 13.74 meters and earned the Cougars three points.
- Five Cougars qualified for the eight spots in the 800-meter final as Braden Oberg (1:55.15), Renton McGregor (1:55.40), Mateo Saldana (1:55.47), Mark De Haro (1:55.93) and Nick Melanes (1:56.45) advanced.
- Dre Johnson qualified for the 200-meter final with a prelim time of 21.65 seconds.
