Second-Half Goal Leads Cougars to 1-0 Win Against Toros

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos women's soccer team (6-3-4, 3-2-2 CCAA) earned a 1-0 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills (4-8-2, 1-5-1 CCAA) on Friday afternoon at The Cage.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • A scoreless first half saw CSUSM have the lead in shots at 5-4, but CSUDH had the lead in shots on goal at 2-1.
  • The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the 54th minute. After a cross from Natalia Huntington, a Brittany Brown header was deflected off the Toro keeper before rolling backwards across the goal line.

  • Brown's goal was her third of the season, tying for the team lead.
  • Huntington's assist was her team-leading third of the year.
  • CSUSM ended the game with the edge in shots (9-6) and corner kicks (3-1) while CSUDH had more shots on goal (4-2).
